Open Banking Hackathon CEE Edition starts tomorrow with 15 teams in the race for the final stage

Fintechs form all across Europe have registered to join this year’s Open Banking Hackathon – Online CEE Edition. After careful consideration, 15 teams from Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Greece and Cyprus have been selected to move forward with the competition starting Wednesday, September 29th until Sunday, October 3rd.

The 5 days remote hackathon will challenge fintechs to build value creation applications on top of the battle tested Open Banking data aggregation platform provided by Finqware. With the support of top business mentors and jurors, more than 50 people will work at developing their open banking solutions for individuals, business and IoT with projects in the field of budgeting, payments, cash withdrawal, loyalty, loans and trading.

The 5 best teams will be selected for the hackathon Grand Finale and will get a will get a chance at Proof of Concept partnerships, special prizes and up to 5,000 € in cash 🏆. The demo night and awards gala will be streamed online on www.openbankinghackathon.com this  Sunday October 3rd from 4pm CET .

As guest keynoter for the event Panagiotis Kriaris, one of the top professionals which has been at the forefront of global open banking since it began, will be sharing his views on the future of Open Banking and Open Finance.

 “There are two things that are going to play a critical role in this revolution: one is technology and the other one is data. So, it’s not only being able to access data because that is what open banking is about, but it’s also, what do you do with the data?” states Panagiotis Kriaris in an interview with Eyal Sivan,  also known as Mr. Open Banking.

Having Microsoft Romania as main partner, the event is also supported by Google Cloud as technology partner, The National Bank of Romania as institutional partner and important banks like Banca Comerciala Romana, Alpha Bank, Raiffeisen Bank International and OTP Bank. Along with them the international law firm CMS and technology companies QUALITANCE and ZITEC have also partnered in the event, interested to see Open Banking getting traction in the financial industry. As supporting partners, DHL Express Romania and Mindspace Bucharest are offering their premises and services to secure a successful hackathon.
